I am originally from New Jersey, and now living in Texas. I have absolutely no intention of going back to Bleepin Joisey. Texas is home, I love my freedom in Texas.

Me, too. Left at the tail end of 2000, have only been back for my parents’ 50th and my Dad’s funeral. Oh, and one trip out of the country through Newark Airport. I miss the food, and the familiarity of the place where I grew up, but not the gun laws.

On that last note, as the wife and I were going over the DMB on the way out of NJ and passed the “Welcome to Delaware” sign, we had an interesting conversation:

I casually remarked to her that, “Hey, we’re out of Jersey...now you don’t have to worry about bailing me out of jail anymore.” She, of course, was surprised, and asked me why.

So I explained the NJ “Assault Weapon Ban” and its provisions against magazines of over 15 rounds. She asked how many of them I had.

“Well, sitting 18 inches behind my ass, there are about 200 years’ worth in Rahway State Prison.” She turned white as a sheet, and said nothing for about 30 seconds (which is VERY uncharacteristic of her). Then she said, “They don’t have laws like that in Texas, do they.”

“Nope. Texas is in America.”
