BZ is produced exclusively in the West and is not known to be lethal, rather it incapacitates the victim by causing a type of paralysis for a number of hours or days depending on the strength of the dose.

This would be consistent with the symptoms exhibited by the Skripals, who originally were found slumped over on a park bench and were thought to have overdosed on fentanyl.
