That’s one way to reduce the tourist crowds.

South Lake Tahoe is bad, tourism way down from past decades. My parents would take our family there just about every year, getting a cabin on the lake shore that was both dirt cheap and wonderful. All the little cabins are gone a few decades ago, the little mom and pop stores are gone, and replaced by huge resort hotels. A lot of casinos went belly up when Indian casinos opened in California. Some people trying to rent out their homes as B&B are being pestered, probably because the huge resorts want a monopoly. South Lake Tahoe used to be great for blue collar working families, now it's affordable for the well to do only. Good reason to stay away and not give them the tourist dollars. Oh, I also hate local government trying to run government on outrageous traffic fines.

My wife used to spend summers on Tahoe with her family in them 60s. What she knew is all gone. We just bought a house on a lake in Idaho and she says it is like the Tahoe she knew back then. With almost 40 million people, much of CA is ruined. The Bay Area alone has 7 million people and I swear every one of them was on the road today. Freeways were at a crawl on a Saturday! Idaho has 1.7 million in the entire state!
