“As for Israel, they are a strong, powerful country who dont need us to defend them. Im American, not Israeli. Let Israel worry about Israel.”
Forget it, there are too many posters here, perhaps even a majority since the big purge of FR after last year’s Syria strike, who seem confused about which country they belong to, or else are under the delusion that Israel is somehow part of the United States, conjoined at the hip.
It could be that many of them are reading too many dime-store biblical theory novels about Armageddon and Rapture, I really don’t know. I used to believe that most posters here were rational, sane, logical conservatives but I have started to have my doubts.
There really is a very strong strain of belief that Israel’s war is the United States’ war, and no matter who Israel allies with, Saudi Arabia, ISIS, the Gulf States, or whoever, and no matter who Israel wants to fight, Assad’s Syria or Saddam’s Iraq or whoever (no matter that Christians were tolerated in those countries), then the US should blindly and uncritically follow.
Israel is a fantastic country, I am humbled by all that Israel has achieved for itself, the Israelis are terrific people, but then I think that of many other countries too. I fail to see, however, how it is (unless we are actively seeking Rapture, then all bets are off the table) that a foreign country gets to determine US foreign policy.
Never mind Israel, WE don’t want Iran stretching to the Mediterranean Sea.
Imagine coming out of Obama’s Syria quagmire with Russian AND Iranian naval bases there.
That’s very possible.
