All American lives are at risk.
I guess you think this is just some philosophical convolution.
However, it makes a point. Whose lives are at risk from a retaliation for gas attacks? Anyone specific?
No.
Just whomever the Russians decide to attack if they retaliate.

Now that I addressed that, let me get back to what I said before. At this point, we waited to long. The war of words has virtually assured a game of escalation is likely if we act. The time to have made a symbollic response to the use of chemical weapons would have been in the first 12 hours, 24 at most.
So no, I would not ‘put american lives at risk’ for punishing Assad.
