I’m always amazed at how they get the 3/5ths compromise wrong. Not just wrong, but backwards. The slave states wanted slaves counted the same as everyone else. That way they’d get more representatives and Presidential electors. The free states didn’t want slaves counted at all. The 3/5ths compromise kind of split the difference.

That’s exactly the way I read it. Otherwise they would have written “pay a 60% higher price.”

Leftists and liberals are so damned stupid and ignorant of history they don’t have a clue about how the 3/5 compromise was critical to getting the Constitution accepted by the south and how it only pertained to census enumeration.
