Well it’s common for a new Secy of State to make at least a courtesy call to some of the living predecessors, just exchange greetings and compare notes. It does not mean he’s actually terribly interested in her advice, although I assume he displayed a polite interest in whatever she wanted to say. I assume he also called (or will call) Kerry, Condi Rice, Colin Powell, Half-bright......
