Rutan is a brilliant designer, and his composite craft are sturdier than they look.

But, I don’t see that replacing the A-10 in any wa , shape or form.

The A-10 is designed to be refueled, rearmed, and serviced with minimal equipment. This “composite” glider isn’t going to be patched up and put back on line at the front. It also doesn’t have a chance of being able to carry a tenth of the munitions that the warthog can. At best it could be an observation platform, but we already have those.

I cannot believe composites can survive damage like the A-10.
