President Donald Trump signed an executive order Tuesday that aims to add and strengthen work requirements for public assistance and other welfare programs.
This’ll make libs explode! He knows you can’t add the word “work” to anything these people do. ~sarc

I wish someone would tell us what actually went down here. Nah. It’s too engrossing not to speculate.
In FDR’s day this ended up being makework, which frankly is about the best that can be done in many cases. Even old occupations undergo reinvention and can evolve out from under a former master of them. Unless retraining is part of such packages, it sounds like grand moralization without any effective direction.

Something like public benefit participation might be apropos here. Being volunteers at a charity like Goodwill or Salvation Army. To be part of the “give” as well as part of the “get.”
I’ve long felt that public welfare systems were second best to what charities, and ESPECIALLY explicitly Christian organizations and churches, ought to be doing. Don’t merely feed the mouth — feed the soul. Show how God cares. Show how they can be a part of God caring for others. God didn’t put us here and tell us “do a good job of being proud of yourselves.” That wasn’t the Edenic directive and it sure wasn’t the post-Eden directive either. And it’s a common, common trap for people who call themselves conservative to fall into. Conservative ain’t SQUAT until it conserves the Son, personally.
Saying Trump would never build a wall doesnt make you a never Trumper. Beside with the his signing of the latest budget, it certainly appears Trump is not going to build his wall.

Limit welfare to 6 months twice in a lifetime.
They’ll just get on disability because they’re to obese to work.
Even if it is literally digging a trench on one end and filling it on the other.
