The main problem with the proposed map is that it assumes that we must maintain the geographical integrity of the existing states. The states are as internally divided as the nation.
His map just buttresses his pathetic article because it is nothing more than some goofy assumption he has that everything south of some line is filled with “good” and everything north of it is “evil”.
While we northern states are the ones that gave Trump the win, Alabama sent a Democrat to DC, and many of those states are full of RINO senators.
I used to say this tongue and cheek years ago. Now we have arrived at that very reality.
I agree. In the state of Washington, where I reside, the eastern part of the state is far more conservative (they are agricultural) than the western part of the state. The demographics also make it difficult for a Republican to get elected in the western part of the state. Three counties in western Washington (King, Pierce, Snohomish), all around the Puget Sound, are densely populated and very progressive. They simply outnumber the rest of the state.
I think Oregon has a similar problem with a more conservative agricultural portion of the state in the eastern part of the state, versus the progressive/liberal part in the western part of the state.
Yep. We rural Pennsylvanians put Trump over the top.
The divide is urban-rural. How that sorts out I dunno...give the cities the option to form autonomous city states I guess, and maybe allow the rural areas to form a kind of confederation.
I have a sad feeling that the author is right. It would be preferable to war.
