I've said it before here - the DOJ is the political brain and nervous system of the government. And, not to have one's cronies and allies running it makes it extremely dangerous for a President. Obama proved both points very clearly. He ran his political agitation campaigns, from #BLM and Ferguson, to Fast and Furious, to Hillary's cover-up, out of the DOJ. He also made sure he had his most trusted fellow travelers in that position. Why did Kennedy appoint his brother AG? Taking it further, Why in IL does Madigan have his daughter as State AG? To protect their flanks, and not allow any chance of exposing crimes.
IMHO Trump missed this important point.

Trump should have went with Christie or Giuliani.
