The E.U. is by design and practice “Soviet Union lite.” The org was put together by atheist Marxist-Lenin sympathizing folks West of the Berlin Wall.
There is a “real Europe” and each country recovers its soul one “Brexit” at a time. Not an overnight process by any means.
Ironically it’s Soviet nostalgic Russia acting the way it is that is helping the West recover some of its moral/spiritual backbone and unity again.

I agree with all of that except that “Real Europe” will never return absent a return of Christianity. That is unlikely to happen with the Catholic Church in Europe in such a pitiful state. European movements about sovereignty and nationalism are all well and good but they will not amount to much in a godless vacuum. Of course, nature disfavors vacuums and what grows in post-Christian secular environment but the certainty and anti-secularism of Islam.
