"
Remember that in the impeachment proceedings against Nixon and Clinton, the House was controlled by the opposite party. That is not the case at the present time."
Which is precisely the 80,000 pound elephant in the room.
If enough conservatives stay home for this mid-term election because their candidate is not conservative enough for them, there aren't enough "independents" or "blue dog" dems to vote in enough (R)'s to control Congress.
- Loose the House, Trumps is impeached...San Fran Nan will make sure of that, 100%. Even less MAGA will get past the House.
- Loose the Senate, and all those critical judicial nominee's go nowhere, even if we retain the house. Even less MAGA will get past the Senate.
- Loose both, Trump and his MAGA actions are all but gone, more courts rule against him, more demographic changes walk across the border and on and on.
This is why this mueller "investigation" has zero limits. The swamp see's the Trump/MAGA presidency as a mere 2 year temporary bump in the road.
These mid-terms could be even bigger than the 2016 presidential election.

The GOP wants to lose the House. It’s their plan.

Look at Rick Scott in Florida. He and the GOP dominated Legislature blinked at the Soros led assault on gun rights. Scott signed the gun control bill thereby alienating the Panhandle and North Florida gun owner votes he desperately needs to defeat Bill Nelson. Yes, Scott is better than Nelson, but there are too many voters who will not vote or maybe vote for the Libertarian candidate as a protest.
The enemy thinks strategically. They will tolerate a deviation on an issue like abortion rights or even gun control to hold a seat in a rural, mining, or industrial area. Abortion on demand is the law unless there is a conservative majority on the Supreme Court, which has not been the case since the 1930s. As long as the GOP controls the White House and Congress, there will be no sweeping gun control measures. So if, say, Joe Manchin goes off the reservation on these issues, no big deal.
