If you can’t see that the Deep State’s strategy is to goad Trump into emulating Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre, I can’t help you. All of DC is salivating at the hope of replaying their successful Watergate playbook.

One big difference between 1974 and 2018: Trump has a very loyal support base. Nixon did not. Conservatives were long disappointed by Nixon's governance as a moderate liberal, including his recognition of Red China, environmental activism, and continuation of Great Society programs. The impeachment charges by the House did not include Nixon's termination of Eliot Richardson, et. al., but did include his misuse of the IRS against political enemies, obstruction of justice in covering up the Watergate burglary, and his stonewalling of Congressional inquiries. Remember that in the impeachment proceedings against Nixon and Clinton, the House was controlled by the opposite party. That is not the case at the present time.
