London Mayor Sadiq Khan announced a tough crackdown on knives Sunday as the city reels from a spike in stabbings that have led its number of homicides to top New York City's for two straight months.
He tweeted: “No excuses: there is never a reason to carry a knife. Anyone who does will be caught, and they will feel the full force of the law.”
The tweet also included an action plan to boost police power and prevent future violenceLondon has seen more than 50 homicides already in 2018.
Most of the city’s murder victims have been stabbed to death, as guns are tightly restricted in Britain and shootings are relatively rare.
If the bloody trend continues, London will far surpass the 130 murders in 2017 and reach a number not seen since the early 2000s.
In February and March, London hit the unwanted milestone of recording more homicides than New York, the first time in modern history, as Fox News previously reported.
The cities are roughly the same size, with more than 8 million people, and have similar extremes of poverty and wealth, but London has never recorded more murders in a year than the U.S. metropolis. New York had 290 homicides in 2017, the lowest number in decades.

Calling for knife control in these circumstances has an odor of desperation coming from a man with actually no sense of irony whatsoever.

London used to be filled with Brits. Now it’s an Englishman’s desert.
But there is a very simple solution to the acid and knife attacks (which will be replaced by screwdrivers, which will be replaced by wrenches, which will be replaced by pipes, etc etc etc).
And that is to give back the firearms to the native Brits so they can defend themselves from the invaders who want to kill and maim them.

Now, the want people not to carry knives
Yet people are still being murdered by cricket bats, beatings, household utensils. Murder predates all modern weapons, and will be present when all have faded into obscurity. Some people will always kill people. Data suggests that high unemployment and high welfare spending are two variables directly linked to elevated crime. However, next.....
They will ban cricket bats, and finally spoons......
The truth cannot be grasped by most of the rich or the poor. Welfare doesn’t save people, doesn’t make societies better, doesn’t promote freedom, but does replace God with State. Redistribution of wealth without jobs, ie Welfare, only leads to societal decay, drugs, crime, violence, low breading rates for middle class from taxation, and eventually class warfare.
If you want to save a free society, then there has to be limits on Welfare so that it represents ‘help’ and not a lifestyle.
