First, it's important to note that neither the US or the UN has verified that a chemical attack has even taken place.

Secondly, is it in US interests to intervene here even if such an attack took place? Will we be able to discern with some degree of certainty who did it?

Third, assuming it was Assad, is that still sufficient national interest to intervene in a country where we appear to have no other strategic interests?

Rather than clamoring for the commitment of more US forces in the Middle East, how about we ponder whether it's a good move? Especially since most of our other actions there have turned out to be disasters.

I would not put it past the “rebels” to gas their own people. The end justifies the means and we all know how much muzzies value innocent lives.

Third, assuming it was Assad,

Which is intellectually the same as assuming a chemical attack in Pittsburgh must logically have been the work of Quakers...

It is strange that when Assad is about to take a town there is a convenient Gas Attack and a ton of video of someone treating children

Indeed. There are at least 15 groups (by my count) active in this proxy civil war in Syria. Please tell me exactly, who who dropped chemical weapons? Hell, my trust in Fed.gov and the media are so low, their saying-so means nothing to me.

And if they were used - what is to me or average Americans overall? All the outrage has been squeezed out me by America’s leftist elites and SJWs.

If Trump is going to allow the deep state to twist him into another war and open-ended military adventure, then he’s a fool.

Once you start a war it’s awfully hard to stop it.

It is very complicated over there. It could even be another "pro US faction" FALSE FLAG . Add to the mix FBI (CIA) involvement stirring the pot as they usually do.

Would not surprise me one bit that this is just another FBI false flag.

Russian FM: It is necessary to warn once again that mil. intervention under far-fetched and fabricated pretexts in #Syria, where the Russian servicemen are deployed at the request of the legitimate government, is absolutely unacceptable and might lead to very severe consequences.

So Putin will start a nuclear war because of Syria? Yeah, I don’t think so.

I want to say that we are making a very serious mistake unless we have absolute proof of a chemical attack on their own citizens. There are factors here that need to be considered. First , Assad turned over all WMD to the Russians 6 years ago. . Second, the attack recently alleged about the use of Sarin gas was COMPLETELY debunked as a fabrication. It was so amateurish that “white Helmet” were walking among the “dead” with no hazmat suits , meaning they would die instantly. Third. The alleged gassing in North East Syria was actually a Syrian /Russian jet that bombed an Isis Warehouse where ISIS made chlorine bombs for use in Mosul Iraq where they exploded over 80 chlorine munitions, many killing their own Sunnis . General Mattis has absolutely admitted the munitions were an ISIS factory hit by the bombing.
I predicted that John Bolton would be part of the NEO CON effort to drag us into a war in Syria but what we are witnessing now is far more serious in that Russia ( invited there by the sovereign government) is taking steps to hit American soldiers if we are naive enough to fall for this canard. ANY ATTACK ON SYRIA IS AN ACT OF WAR AND ILLEGAL AGGRESSION. It mandates an act of Congress and absolute undeniable proof of Syria/Russian involvement ( which would be a first). Trump needs to get good facts UP FRONT!!

Paul Ryan
@SpeakerRyan
The chemical attack in Syria is a horror that cannot be tolerated by responsible nations. The U.S. must continue to lead an international effort to hold the Assad regime and Russia accountable for their actions.

Wasn’t Saddam Hussein accused of the same thing....gassing his own people? The story helped Americans to be comfortable with the war in Iraq. That makes me suspicious of these “gassing his own people” accounts now in Syria.

If Jaish al Islam (the Army of Islam, and an al Qaeda off-shot) says it happened, we must go to war with Syria & Russia. Otherwise we are all Russian Bots. Bill Kristol says so.

Russia has cemented the most fascist, anti-Semitic coalition of powers since the end of World War II.

Iran - Turkey - Russia - Syria (even North Korea may have a base in Syria now.)

Doesn’t mean a full on “hot war” will break out anytime soon, but it’s enough to marvel that: at no time in recent memory have the echoes of Nazism clamor in our midst as they do today. With this much ferocity.
