Russia warns of 'most serious consequences' if US strikes Syria over alleged chemical attack

Russia is warning the U.S. against any “military intervention” in Syria over the government's alleged chemical attack against civilians this weekend, saying any such response would be “unacceptable” and lead to the “most serious consequences”.

The foreign ministry in Moscow also says in a statement on its website that allegations of the chemical attack are “fabricated,” suggesting the claims were invented by rebel forces and the Syrian Civil Defense known as the White Helmets.

“It is necessary to warn again that military intervention under invented and fabricated pretexts in Syria, where at the request of the lawful government there are Russian military personnel, is absolutely unacceptable and can lead to the most serious consequences,” the statement reads. “The aim of these false speculations, that have no basis, is to shield the terrorists and the irreconcilable radical opposition, who reject a political solution, at the same time while trying to justify possible armed strikes from outside.”

The alleged attack on Saturday killed 40 in the rebel-held town of Douma, multiple opposition and rescue groups including told The Associated Press, which was unable to independently verify the reports.

It came a year and a day after President Donald Trump ordered dozens of strikes on a Syrian regime air base for its alleged use of sarin gas on April 4, 2017, that killed approximately 100 people, according to the the State Department. More than 30 of the victims were children. The government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad denied carrying out the attack.

If he goe3s to war based on the word of the US State Dept and the “White Helmets” in Syria, he would, indeed, be a fool.

I still hold some confidence he’ll apply discernment and put America first.

I had more confidence in candidate Trump than in President Trump.

He’s doing well domestically, considering the hatred from the Swamp, but in foreign affairs there is still too much shrieking from PMSing neocon scum.

I want to say that we are making a very serious mistake unless we have absolute proof of a chemical attack on their own citizens.

###########

Even if there was such proof, I am unmoved. We call the Saudi filth “friends” and “allies”, when those subhumans are still perpetrating crucifixions and decapitations as a matter of xslamic “law”. Filthy beasts. The hypocrisy is nauseating. The Saudi atrocities are uncontested. Known. Boasted of. Neocons are even lower beasts than the Wahabbists in their deceit and hypocrisy.

Exactly so.

May God reward the neocons with everything they deserve.

Well let me add that the Saudi sunnis spawned and supported with millions of dollars the wahhabi ISIS ( renamed from AlQaeda). They promoted the attack on our soil on 9/11. Yet we divert the sheeple to hate Iran Shiites because the neocons have too much money to make off the Saudi sunni bastards.

Wasn’t Saddam Hussein accused of the same thing....gassing his own people? The story helped Americans to be comfortable with the war in Iraq. That makes me suspicious of these “gassing his own people” accounts now in Syria.

And then there were the “stolen incubator” stories in Kuwait.

Assad and the Russians have Syria firmly in control. The only reason for this us a false flag. It’s the only reason. There us absolutely ZERO for Assad to gain by doing this. No freakin way it was Assad.

That movie opened my eyes. Interesting that it came out during the Clinton years.

If Jaish al Islam (the Army of Islam, and an al Qaeda off-shot) says it happened, we must go to war with Syria & Russia. Otherwise we are all Russian Bots. Bill Kristol says so.

Yep. Neocons are the greatest domestic threat to Americans and the Founders’ principles. Far more so than the imbecilic, puerile hard left. Millions voted for Trump in the hopes he would dump the neocons into the landfill. Somehow they have managed to lead him by the nose. It may be the only way he physically survives.

Once you start a war it’s awfully hard to stop it.

That's what Tojo's diplomat told him when he wanted to make peace with the USA after Japan lost Saipan, which was within B-29 range of Japan.

Russia has cemented the most fascist, anti-Semitic coalition of powers since the end of World War II.

Iran - Turkey - Russia - Syria (even North Korea may have a base in Syria now.)

Doesn’t mean a full on “hot war” will break out anytime soon, but it’s enough to marvel that: at no time in recent memory have the echoes of Nazism clamor in our midst as they do today. With this much ferocity.

I think ISIS was far more Nazi like. I have video to prove my point. You don’t.

I am on Assad’s side in Syria Lindsey. All of the civilized Syrians live safely behind his lines. Nothing you can do about it though. Your Al-Qeada buddies are all going to die.

1. except for the cannisters photographed on Russian jets after the 6yrago deadline, eh?
2. The Hague verified sarin; the UN agreed, and obviously, death wasn’t instantaneous, but rather gruesome (not everyone in the ‘95 Japan subway sarin attack died instantly either)
3. The ‘warehouse’ was empty and unused and no Mattis hasn’t
4. The President can declare a 60-day war at any time under the 1973 War Powers Act - giving Congress notice within 48 hours after the fact.

Probably better for you to stick to FR for the facts

But at a certain point, you will have to choose between Trump and Assad. And Israel and Iran.
