Former British MP Blair to Merkel: Please Do 'Everything Possible' to Reverse Brexit
PJ Media ^ | 04-07-2018 | Michael van der Galien

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has called on Germany's Angela Merkel to do "everything possible" to reverse Brexit and keep Britain part of the European Union. "It would be a mistake of historic proportions if the United Kingdom leaves the European Union," Blair told Business Insider Deutschland.

"Even Europe -- especially Germany -- has a lot to lose," he went on to say. "It is in all our interests to maintain barrier-free trade across the continent and to hold liberal democracies together in times when authoritarian structures are resurgent." And so, he argued, "Germany should do everything possible to keep the UK in the EU."

Of course, Blair's "advice" to Merkel isn't exactly surprising in the sense that the former PM was passionately pro-Remain in the lead-up to the Brexit referendum. However, what is shocking is that as a Social Democrat, Blair clearly has absolutely no respect for the will of the people. Blair is supposed to be a different kind of socialist; not a socialist as such, but someone who mixes socialism with democratic values. He's supposed to be one of the main representatives of the so-called "third way."

Except when voters dare disagree with him. When they have the audacity to do so, he immediately switches gears and becomes as authoritarian as the old-school socialists we've all learned to hate and distrust.

[[as a Social Democrat, Blair clearly has absolutely no respect for the will of the people]]

Pretty typical of all democrats the world over- they claim to be for the little guy- but their actions speak louder than their words

"in times when authoritarian structures are resurgent".

You can be jailed in the U.K. for daring to say the wrong thing. To criticize Islam.

The suggestion here is that Merkel runs the EU. On the list of ten things that Brits really hated about the EU....this hint of Germans in charge was near the top. So this just reinforces the idea of BREXIT being a good thing.

Even if I was British and in favor of staying in the EU this would be outrageous to ask foreign leaders to overturn the result of an election.

Tony Blair is an example of the authoritarianism he was worried about.

Tony Blair. Mr. NWO - he was the special envoy of The Quartet to divide Israel for “peace”.

They even bought a house in Jerusalem for him and his staff because they were spending so much on hotels.

Being form Europe, I found it interesting that was his role .... guess he’s out that now.

[the fourth Reich]

May not be too far off on that one. I expect the EU to play a significant role in the “false peace”.

Just my $0.02, of course.

Interesting they call him MP (Member of Parliament) rather than PM (Prime Minister)...

"It is in all our interests to maintain barrier-free trade across the continent and to hold liberal democracies together in times when authoritarian structures are resurgent."

Blair wants the authoritarian EU to have absolute power instead of the (too big and intrusive but still) far less authoritarian and potentially more locally responsive British government.

having a stupid, cowardly opinion is worthy of ridicule, but it is in no way treasonous.

It is treasonous when the activity seeks to employ a foreign power in overturning the sovereignty and independence if your country.
