In a bizarre irony, the German daily newspaper Die Welt has proclaimed U.S. President Donald Trump “the most successful climate protector in the world” after a new global climate report revealed that U.S. carbon dioxide emissions dropped dramatically during Trump’s first year in office.

The United States led the small pack of countries that managed to lower greenhouse gas emissions, accompanied by UK, Japan, and Mexico. According to IEA figures, the United States managed to reduce CO2 emissions in 2017 by 0.5 percent, or 25 million tons, to 4810 million tons.

Mr. Wetzel doffed his hat to President Trump, saying that despite being stigmatized as an enemy of the environment, he has shown himself to be quite the contrary. Wetzel contrasted the positive U.S. results with those of China, which signed on to the Paris Climate Accord. While U.S. emissions dropped, China’s grew by nearly a full percentage point in 2017.
Curiously, some of the countries that chastised the United States for dropping out of the Paris Accord performed far worse than the U.S. during 2017, with the European Union (EU) emissions rising by a stunning 46 million tons. Germany itself has not reduced its emissions for nine years in a row.
The decline in U.S. carbon emissions was due to a number of factors, the study found, including growth in the use of renewables, the liberalization of fracking with the consequent increase in clean-burning natural gas, and America’s continued high use of clean nuclear energy, which supplies about 20 percent of U.S. energy needs.
As Breitbart News reported last summer, air pollution in the U.S. is among the lowest on the planet, according to studies by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Its like I keep pointing out, Natural gas is a lot cleaner than coal. Fracking reduces greenhouse emissions. US emissions were going down even before Hussein agreed to Paris. They have continued to decline even after Trump pulled us out. Meanwhile not one of the European countries met the targets they agreed to in the Paris Agreement....yet they whine about us pulling out? LOL!

A lot of the German issue was the mandated and forced shut-down of the nuke-energy plants around the country. You could sit there and predict their numbers would grow in size, and the news media just absolutely refused to bring this up when the mandated order came up.
Natural Gas abundance in the USA is a result of “evil fracking.” It does reduce greenhouse gases, however this is of little importance. CO2 is plant food! When CO2 levels were many times higher than today in the geologic past life and plants flourished on earth. When C02 levels are low as today, life is hard.
Actually we live in an anomalous time on earth. The normal condition of earth is ice age. Enjoy it, it will not last and yes the polar icecaps may melt before the next cycle of glacial killing of life occurs.
Ice caps grow and melt due to orbital mechanics and sun cycles, not CO2. Man did cause global warming and man can not stop the next ice age. Man does fake statistics relative to weather data to give a desired political conclusion which is not bad science but just plain damn lies.
The science of weather and its statistics have become left wing political propaganda of which Goebbels would be proud.
Geologically speaking we may be in a warming period of an ice age that will return to full blown ice age. We may be in a true end of an ice age and the polar caps will melt. This has happened before and will happen again. We do not know!

The Washington Post, in its Tuesday “Health and Science” section, March 13, 2017, ran a leftwing article from the leftist “Live Science” website/publication entitled “White Blankets Can’t Stop Swiss Glacier’s Retreat”.
About attempts to deflect heat off of the Rhone Glacier in Switzerland which has been losing ice for years, blamed on “global warming”.
Key sentences: “Earth is getting warmer, and glaciers around the world are retreating and shrinking. As previously reported, humans appear to have caused 69% percent of glacial melting between 1991 and 2010 - and warming has only accelerated since then.”
...”The glacier has retreated 4,600 feet since 1856”.
And: “Nonetheless, this idea and others like it (i.e. the blankets reflecting sunlight/warmth away from glaciers) are becoming increasingly popular, as it grows clearer that the world will blow through the temperature-rise target that policy-makers have set for limiting the worst effects of climate change....”
Have you ever read such bullshit in your life? The US, last year, reduced its carbon emissions totals yet these idiots at Live Science claim, by innuendo, that we are responsible for “global warming and climate change”, all since 1856.
Nothing about the Red Chinese, India, Russia, volcanoes, primitive tribes with clearcutting and camps fires, forest fires, cats and dogs living together, etc.
These so-called science writers are like Linus and his blanket - it looks nice but doesn’t do a damned thing. So is this type of crappy, if not “false” or “fake” climate change story about glaciers.
After the winter we just had (it snowed a little in DC today and the Cherry Blossom trees left the Tidal Basin for Hawaii - only a few snowflakes for the environmental wacko snowflakes to see but this is APRIL, not February and the temperature outside is in the mid-30’s).
I’ve been a scientist (paleontology and archaeology). I like to deal in hard facts, not unsupported suppositions based on “models” that are totally unreliable and often biased (Michael somebody and his hockey stick model).
It will takes decades to shape out any real climate change or global warming, but right now, the evidence is not there. Regional changes - yes. It happens - called “weather” but don’t tell the leftists. They might have an orgasm over it, or they might just wet their panties.
Real scientists study facts, not “suppositions”. Sir Isaac Newton has been spinning so fast in his grave that any apple that falls near him is sent back onto the tree, if not in orbit.
As Sgt. Friday would say, “The facts, mam, just the facts”!
In China there are hundreds (thousands?) of coal mine fires. (Poor technology, no regard to safety, etc.) These fires, once started, are impossible to extinguish.
The CO2 from coal mine fires in China is more than all of the CO2 output of cars and trucks in the USA.
(Of course, that argument only works with those that believe that CO2 causes global warming.)
Do you know what Red China said to the global warming crew about their mine fires, “Mine your own business”. /sarc
