There are mountains of exceptions to warrantless searches and almost every appeals court will justify anything the cops do to allow an warrantless search. I’m a criminal defense attorney (about 90% federal work) and it’s extremely frustrating. I wish what you stated was correct, however. It would make my life MUCH easier!
