A white man with Barack Obama's exact qualifications would have never gotten near the Presidency. Obama was elected for one and only one reason. Affirmative action is based on quotas and set-asides. That's not what happened in 2008 and 2012. However "incompetent" you may think Obama was, he also was—objectively, or at least arguably—a better candidate than either McCain or Romney.
