I honestly dont know, at this point, whether to come down on this as you do and not worry or to, instead, begin worrying.
Im typically a very optimistic person but I think we should, at least, guard against adopting totally a move along, nothing to see here stand.

Why are Republicans panicking over these special elections. Do they not remember that Dems lost a thousand seats over the course of 6 years? For the same reason why it was important to win the White House - the courts. There is now a liberal member of the state Supreme Court for at least 10 years.

They are worried because the internal polling is rather bleak. Not to mention the demographics.
Trump won not as a Republican, but as Trump. The GOP brand is damaged. Enough so that mid terms will be interesting, and Trump will be fighting impeachment come January.
