No excuses, but this was a state supreme court election, with little at stake, in which normal turnout is 7%+/-.

It wouldn't take much to win this one. Nonetheless, this hopefully will be a wake-up call to party ops.

Little at stake? A liberal justice will sit on the Supreme Court for at least 10 years. One more and the left controls the court.
