Howard University students entered their fourth day of a protest Monday in which they occupied an administrative building and demanded campus police disarm.

"We demand the immediate disarming of campus police officers and the formation of a Police Oversight Committee controlled by students, faculty, staff, and off-campus community representatives," The Concerned Students of HU Resist wrote in a letter that has been shared over 2,500 times on Twitter.
The students want the committee to have authority over complaints filed against Howard University police officers, as well as the ability to review and advise the department's policies.

Harvard's are.I once noticed a Harvard campus cop who didn't appear busy so I asked him exactly what authority they have.He said that they have pretty much the same authority,on University property,that municipal cops have in their city.I assume that that authority comes from state and/or Federal law.
Good idea, have every student sign a waiver stating that their safety and security cannot be guaranteed. DC Metro police will also only respond to investigate crimes not encounter potential criminal acts in progress.
In this case I agree....the cops should go on a two week vacation and
leave it up to the school administration to provide
the protection......for the party
