If they are going to re-unify with norks, they cannot be given anything at any decent technology level.

The EUSSR tries to muscle in on the gig. After all, they’re the world’s biggest “peace project”, aren’t they.

65 years. Get it over with. The Sorks can fight their own battles.

The under water navies are getting more and more prolific. I was on a US Navy missile sub in the Med in 1973 and it was crowded then. The seas around Japan and China have to be as bad or worse.
Everyone wants a piece of The action but South Korea getting in to it and reunifying with th Norks is a receipe for disaster. IMHO.

If you go to war with the south against the north you have to double the number of troops. Half watching the front and half watching their backs. Nam or Korea, I think we already danced this jig and we are in the midst of similar bs in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sure, with Red China on the Norks’ side. And the EU getting in means what for us?

Obama sure emboldened all our enemies and left our allies in the cold.

Perhaps a separate country for the Kurds and Pastuan’s in Afghanistan/Packistan would lead to more stability. Not counting on it though.

Double? We’d need at least twenty times as many troops if you want to invade the DPRK, hold it and recover all unexpended nuclear ordinance according to estimates I’ve seen. We’ll need a bigger Army.

The way both Koreas see it,

Clowns to the left of me
Jokers to the right
Here I am
Stuck in the middle with you

Sane, insane, whatever, sooner or later they're going to reunite and neither sides wants it to be after millions more Koreans die fighting one another.

I think the Australians regret the French choice. Something to do with contract follow up issue costs and assurances.

The French government only recently outlawed retroactive bribes from foreign weapons buys! Imagine that. They still have many of their leaders involved in shenanigans, hidden bank schemes and what not involved in those programs.

I would not deal with them

I should think so too. The commie brainwashing of folks in North Korea would be difficult to overcome.

We (U.S.) may perform some sort of surgical black ops utilizing special operations forces. But, there ain’t gonna be a large deployment of several divisions against the Norks. We would be playing right into their wheel house. Ain’t gonna happen.

I assume you’re trying to make a stupid joke, but the French absolutely helped save South Korea during the worst of the fighting in the Korean War. After the Chinese invasion, when American and United Nations units were about to be knocked clear out of the Korean Peninsula, about 5,000 soldiers of the French Battalion and the US 23rd Regimental Combat Team held their ground against a vastly superior Communist Chinese force at the Battle of Chipyong-ni. Historians now call Chipyong-ni the Gettysburg of Korea - and it was a key turning point that saved the war from total disaster.

I’m sure that’s comforting to the families of the 37,000 Americans who fell in the Korean Campaign.

Probably not. Hopefully it's more comforting to the 300,000 Americans who survived - if the French and Americans hadn't stopped the Chinese Army at Chipyong-ni, allied forces would likely have been knocked into the sea which would have been the greatest military disaster in American history. You can't blame the French for Truman's decision to intervene in Korea, for the Chinese invasion or other stuff - but we have to be grateful for their heroism while surrounded by a vastly superior force because that saved an entire US Army.
