I had a .30 cal round go off before it could chamber in a M1. Powder was everywhere. The bolt struck the primer making the round go off. Primers are pretty noisy and can by themselves get bullets stuck in the barrel.

A caller to Gun Talk said he reported a fire, and when firemen entered the house and saw firearms, they left. Chiel said they had a “let it burn” policy.

Semi-Auto ammunition is a problem, it is semi explosive like an automobile. If it is “assault” ammunition that is where the real danger resides.

So where’s the federal legislation that skirts due process?

Has NRA or any other gun group (GOA, NAGR) said anything about bump stock ban?

Florida legislation sucks. Has nothing to do w/ Trump. Has to do with a squishy Repub party in and RINOs in south FL and a marginal R Governor running for Senate against a liberal thinking the “had to do something” and reacted emotionally to a tragedy (that was a result of failures in the part of several layers of govt). I’m from FL and have connections involved in state politics. NRA will probably prevail on lawsuit and I believe there are sunset provisions on parts of the legislation. Additionally, legislation only affects Rifle purchases from a dealer. A person under 21 can still have a rifle if it’s bought by private sale or given to them. In other words, solely political and useless, but I agree, sucks, but has nothing to do with Trump, but we do now have schools that can choose to arm staff...a good thing.

Have no idea what hearing protection act is and by the sounds of it, I’m not in favor. Nor am I fond of national reciprocity, because anything federal gets bogged down with ridiculous regulations. Want to improve carry reciprocity in your state? Vote in better legislators, don’t water down my State’s CC.

I got an email from my Congressman yesterday. He showed a list of the ten most conservative cities in Florida. Maybe it was just counties but anyway they were all in the Panhandle.

I really wish we could cut off the state South of Orlando and make a new state out of it.

“So where’s the federal legislation that skirts due process?”

Trump is taking his cue from Obama. He is avoiding legislation and using the Justice Department to enact infringements and help states do the same. Holder is smiling.

Next you are going to tell me the criminal hag is sincere when she and her kind just want sensible gun reform.

The sides will blow out, and the cartridge case is propelled backwards as fast as the bullet goes forward, so neither has any velocity.

Well, they both have some velocity, just different ones relative to their masses. They'll have the same momentum.

Bullets shoot everywhere

Must have been heavy casings for the bullets to fly everywhere - the lighter of the two will do the most traveling...

It’s kinda like the movies shooting rifles underwater and killing people, they won’t penetrate six feet underwater. I discovered this when I was about 12, fired a .45 into water of a horse tank, the bullet would drop to the bottom, penetrate about 2 feet.

The "slomo guys" on youtube have some excellent vids of this. Watching it at super slow-motion speeds is really cool. Even a .50 doesn't do squat after passing through 5 ft of water.
