Scientists first started writing about global warming in the 1850s. More than a century ago, others explored the possibility of human-caused climate change. And yet in 2018, a lot of people still lack a basic scientific understanding of the concept, so argues Boulder-based astrophysicist Jeffrey Bennett.
Theres nothing really controversial in terms of the basic science, he says.
Outside of textbooks, Bennett first wrote about global warming in his 2012 kids book The Wizard who Saved the World.
I felt like we needed to have a way to get kids to understand the topic without scaring them; make them feel like there is something they can do and build a better future with it, he says. The same thing that kids need, I think adults need, too.
Bennett seeks to lay out the science and consequences of climate change in a matter-of-fact way that answers the most common questions about the issue, and examines possible solutions. He systematically addresses (and debunks) the case against climate change, while providing a way for supporters to speak intelligently about it. Bennetts goal is simple: equip as many people, both children and adults, with a basic and rational understanding of global warming so that even the most hard-hearted skeptics will become believers.
Youre dealing with an increasingly small number of people who are for some reason hardened against this, Bennett says.
In another 2017 poll, more than six in 10 Americans want the government to do something about climate change. Hopefully, with a basic scientific understanding such as the one laid out in the Primer, the consensus will just keep growing. Regardless, Bennett believes we all can agree: Everybody wants a better world for their kids and grandkids, he says. I like to believe that even the Scott Pruitts of the world are reachable.

Fake scientist pedaling fake science. Odd how this supposed “astrophysicist” does know the basic science of the sun spot cycle and how it affect the Earth, and other planet’s, climates.

That is such a lie. Back then it was global cooling or the coming ice age. I remember being in school in the seventies and being issued Weekly Reader with stories of how man was causing global temperatures to drop and we were all going to die unless jimmy carter was elected.

“Believers” in a “Belief System” (BS).
Good thing Bennett isn't trying to scare kids with the prospect of sudden freezing because of Grand Solar Minimum or just one super volcano.

He systematically addresses (and debunks) the case against climate change, Let's see it. Bet it doesn't stand up to impartial, scientific scrutiny.
The fact is, the climate has gone up by 1 and a half degree in the past 100 years. Yet this climate change "science" isn't about the past (with trends) or the present (evidence) but based on the FUTURE (computer models).
There is ALWAYS this catch when mentioning the 1.5 C degree change:
"It's GOING TO happen," they say "Just you wait and see. If we don't destroy the Earth human economy today, we'll pay in the future."
Nope. Not science.

OK, then let’s cancel all the taxpayers money funneled to climate “science”. If it’s not controversial, then there is zero need to fund 16 (sixteen) different climate models and an army of parasites feeding on them.

Youre dealing with an increasingly small number of people who are for some reason hardened against this, Bennett says..........I’m hoping we are dealing with an increasing number of people who are starting to understand that spending an enormous amount of funds on this won’t make it go away. It’s hard to say that there is any crisis in climate change as of yet & the things we could do to change any of it are very questionable. There is no guarantee that any amount of effort on man’s part would change anything to do with climate.
