It was only that the nerve endings that governed the sensation of pain had been universally and maximally stimulated. Boiling lead could have done no more.
I would imagine too frequent use of such a device would lead to eventual insanity.
But I would think that this woman should get daily treatments with such a device for the rest of her life.
