Secretary of Defense James Mattis dispelled reports Tuesday that he was apprehensive about working with President Trumps incoming National Security Advisor John Bolton.
"I'll tell you right up front, it's going to be a partnership, we are going to go forward," Mattis told reporters during a news conference at the Pentagon.
When asked about his differing world views with Bolton, Mattis responded, "I hope that there's some different world views. That's the normal thing you want unless you want group think."
Mattis acknowledged that the two hadnt met yet but said Bolton was coming to the Pentagon later this week for discussions.
"We are going to sit down together and I look forward to working with him," Mattis said.
He emphasized that he had no reservations about Boltons appointment.
"No reservations, no concerns at all, he said. Last time I checked he's an American. I can work with an American, OK? So I'm not the least bit concerned with that sort of thing."
Mattis and Bolton are likely to differ when it comes to the Iran deal. Mattis has advised President Trump to stay in the deal. Bolton, on the other hand, has repeatedly advocated for tearing up the agreement. Trump has a May 12 deadline for deciding whether the U.S. will leave the Iran deal or attempt to renegotiate it.
Another apparent area of disagreement between the two is North Korea. Mattis has advocated for a diplomatic strategy with North Korea, but Bolton recently wrote an op-ed making a case for launching a preemptive strike on North Korea.
He accepts his mission and does his best to accomplish it.

...
Isn’t renegotiating a like a compromise between the two?
So why is he dragging his feet on expelling transgenders from the military?
Trump has a May 12 deadline for deciding whether the U.S. will leave the Iran deal or attempt to renegotiate it.Mark my words. Iran will come crawling before that deadline.

Don’t know what is going on inside the operation. Only know what the MSM tells us.
IMO, he is “dragging his feet” in order to ensure all the I dots and T crosses are handled properly. To do otherwise invites embarrassment in courts for the administration.
The military seldom moves quickly, especially when administrative rules are concerned.
JMO, of course.
Didn't Mattis have trouble working with the kenyan commie usurper?
LOL that does sound like a dig on Barry doesn’t’ it?
the mere hint/whif of decency of any sort is an insult to the pof!

When told to include the mentally ill who believe they are not the sex they are, he saluted and said , Yes, sir! to the Kenyanesian Usurper.
False. Mattis was relieved of command of USCENTCOM under 0bama for asking about second and third order affects of 0's stance toward Iran and showing 0 et al their folly. He was passed a message by his deputy
Mattis was appointed as SECDEF under Trump - the transgender nonsense was already in place. Since then, the military has moved to ban most transgenders (I think the exception is those already undergoing "treatment", and only until they finish such "treatment").
Which, as another poster has mentioned, things in the bureaucracy move slow....it's a lot harder to undue something than it is to just stroke a pen and say - ok the freakshow is welcome.
He has made statements supportive of the transgender nonsense, even if he did not implement it.
