DNC's Perez: "Voter Suppression" To Only Count Number Of U.S. Citizens In Census
RCP Video ^ | 3-27-2018 | Ian Schwartz

Posted on 03/28/2018 5:34:04 AM PDT by Sir Napsalot

om Perez, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, joins MSNBC's MTP Daily to discuss the citizenship question being added to the 2020 census.

Guest host Katy Tur asked Perez shouldn't it matter who is a citizen of this country, in terms of representation, and who is not.

Perez said trying to figure out who and who is not a citizen is a "scare tactic" and called it "voter suppression" to only county U.S. citizens in the census. He said not counting non-citizens will hurt "funding formulas."

(snip)

They want to change it to count the number of U.S. citizens so that they can engage in very not subtle voter suppression. That is illegal and that is totally inconsistent with what the north star of the census in Republican and Democratic administration has been.

It's been about accuracy. That's why you see folks from the Bush administration and other Republicans who are calling out this complete overreach. I mean Donald Trump before this announcement was made was already fund raising off of this.

This is just another divide-and-conquer effort. This is a first cousin of this voter I.D. law to make sure that African-Americans and Latinos can't vote. This is not who we are as a nation. This is not why people died for the passage of the Voting Rights Act.

If you lie to the census taker you get deported

Highly improbable but, technically, you CAN be prosecuted for providing false information regardless of who you are or your residency status. Extremely rare, if ever!

"Non-citizens aren’t necessarily illegals. Many are here legally under various types of visas."

And it's ILLEGAL for ALL non-citizens to vote in federal (and as of now still nearly all local) elections.

What the Democrats fear is that the question on the census will do 2 things in Democrat voting areas.

It will expose how many more people are voting than are voting age citizens.

Being counted as a non-citizen on the Census will scare away many of those previously voting illegally from voting again.

Maybe Perez can propose a 3/5 compromise.

If illegals voted even 40% republican the left would have built the wall decades ago.

My sister has observed that effect in the teaching profession. They all vote straight “D” and constantly spout off liberal talking points, “RESIST,” etc, but when she has private conversations, many of them actually have conservative core values - personal responsibility, the value of the individual, belief in God, the merit and self-worth that come from hard work and achievement, making your own way in life without the government nanny. But they are unable to just step back and really think about what they are doing. It’s always the reflexive “Evil Republicans.”

I hope you are right that Perez is so divisive, so insane that he drives people to actually think about their candidate and vote. Still color me skeptical, though.

The want to count both citizens and non-citizens. That’s the point of asking.

So, Perez is wrong. They don’t want to “only count citizens”.

That is a huge planning issue for federal and state governments.

Yes, I want the votes suppressed that are cast by non-citizens.

Since my family was here before the country was formed, would I get deported to the colonies? Cool!

What would happen here is interesting.

You go and find the states with higher portions of non-citizens (California, NY, Florida, Texas). You can figure those four states probably have 14 million illegals. The other forty-six states would probably have the remaining 8 million.

So a change occurs with the House membership. I would suggest that 12 districts disappear from those four states. So there’s a major problem right off the bat. But then you have to go and redraw the boundaries to a minimum of fifteen states, and watch how people now want to avoid counting illegals to build a district.

Then you come to Electoral Votes. NY, Cal and Florida losing Electoral Votes? More than likely. Figure each losing two to three.

All of this has huge implications in 2022 and 2024, if you ask me.

“Why are Dems not concerned about illegal votes?”
The Democrats only have 3 ways of wining elections:’
1. Lying
2. Character assassination
3. Voter fraud

“This is not why people died for the passage of the Voting Rights Act.”

People did not die for the passage of the Voting Rights Act; the Civil Rights demonstrations of the 60s, and the very few who died protesting, had nothing to do with voting rights for illegal aliens.

The Founders did not specify citizens?

Why take that literally, and not take the 2nd Amendment literally?

“But they are unable to just step back and really think about what they are doing. It’s always the reflexive “Evil Republicans.””

Teachers are highly indoctrinated. Their teaching colleges/universities were overtaken by social Marxists starting in the late 1940’s (search on “Frankfurt School”) along with the NEA, which supplies continuous proggie koolaid to all in our schools.

Florida students demonstrate how teachers have so indoctrinated our kids. Emotion-based, ego-stroking indoctrination for 13 years works. It’ll take cult deprogramming methods to help them woke.

God help us.

Democrats are openly fighting for the rights of foreigners over US citizens.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bush League Republicans are more subtle in their support of fraudulently documented foreigners.
Don’t you wonder if Sessions is having trouble finding trustworthy people at the DOJ to carry out his orders?
So an illegal gets the new Census.
Are you a Citizen?
YES!
Now what?
Thank you.
I was going to make that point if someone else didn’t.
I don’t believe the question is asking if one is “illegal” or not. Just whether or not they are a “citizen”
Much ado about nothing
