That’s just not true. SOME UC campuses might have relatively low criteria, but not UCLA/UCSD/UCSB, the schools to which he applied. Note he didn’t apply to the crown jewel of the UC system, UC-Berkeley. Nonetheless, the 3 he applied to are very popular and can afford to have high standards, especially for out-of-state students.
