We’re living in Mexico right now ( hubby is here on business). The first thing a family does when they buy land, is build a wall around it. And Mexicans hate renting to Mexicans (as opposed to expats) because after a while, they quit paying rent and become squatters. The house we are living in, although we pay our rent, the owners have refused to pay the home owners fees that include the water. They may cut off our waters.
Mexican culture has an ingrained corruption in it, from the Spaniards. They are expected to be corrupt and they expect you to be to, but not too much.
