FRANKFORT, Ky. The U.S. Senate's top leader said Monday he wants to bring agricultural hemp production back into the national mainstream by removing it from the list of controlled substances.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told a group of hemp advocates in his home state of Kentucky that he will introduce legislation to legalize the crop as an agricultural commodity. The versatile crop has been grown on an experimental basis in a number of states in recent years.
"I believe hemp has a bright future in our state," McConnell said. "It's now time to take the final step and make this a legal crop for every state that wants to file a plan with the U.S. department of agriculture."

Mitch is a pothead? I never would have guessed.
Good move.
Marijuana prohibition is overall a loser for Republicans. Sure, there are still many who feel as does Sessions that ‘good people don’t use marijuana’, but a LOT of the vote for Trump was from independent voters and even Obama voters who do not share that attitude. In addition, it shows up as hypocrites folks who are always about ‘State’s Rights’ when medical/recreational cannabis is about as much of a ‘state’s rights’ issue as something can be.
Couching it as ‘hemp’ might make it more palatable to people stuck in prohibition mindset, plus it really is a good crop for a lot of things.
The Chamber of Commerce crowd wants the tax dollars.
They don’t care that they come from Satan.
If rumors are true, that's at least a 2 Bay Garage.
Agricultural hemp is weak on THC. No self respecting doper would be caught dead with it when the high powered stuff is so easily available.
The problem is both look the same. I spoke with a stage ag person about it and his thoughts were to genetically modify Ag hemp to have a different color or some other noticeable marker.
If McConnell is for it, you have to ask: what’s in it for the Chinese?
stage ag person = State Ag person.
Personally, I dont give a d*** whether they legalize it or not. I just think that the rat bastards priorities suck.

Take a trip and never leave the farm.
I’m in.
I think everyone should check a a few sites to find out just how valuable a commodity hemp is. It can be used to make just about anything, including fuel for internal combustion engines. And for all the tree huggers, it can cut back on the harvesting of trees.
And it has nothing to do with marijuana or getting high.
My wife works at a testing lab and a farmer just dropped off a sample of ground hemp for a feed analysis. She said it tested really high (no pun intended) in protein and other compounds that make it excellent for animal feed.
It’s not a euphemism. Industrial hemp is different than cannabis that is grown for smoking. You could smoke industrial hemp all day long and you’d never get high.
Prefect! Thanks for the video

My father in law grew hemp on his Kentucky farm during WWII for the war effort.
