There is a scene there with some Marines going into the staely and oh-so-gentlemanly Navy Officers mess and eating some fake throw-up with a spoon.

Talk about decorum!

I can remember that and how the central character was a major league ass despised by his colleagues.

This might tickle your fancy. I remember many years ago how I was waiting for my food at a diner when someone sitting at the counter let out a loud fart. Some might think that hysterical too! The Great Santini in your face crudity. You and your friends are right.

The adolescents from Parkland High School must be following that example. Scream, yell, throw a tantrum!!!! Manners are out the window!!!

Funny about that movie. Each time I see it, I like it a little less. What was outrageous and hilarious on first viewing became unfunny, then hateful over time, and the way he treated his family, his son especially, made for a bummer. Doubt I’ll watch it again.
