The military should not build the wall. They are soldiers not road workers.
The TSA and DHS should supply the labor for the wall.

Don't be silly the Combat engineers and see bees can build anything. But it is silly to build any wall just militarize the boarder and defend it.

Have you ever heard of the Seabees? How about Army engineers?

Both of these military units have built airfields, roads and lots of other stuff.

Contrary to your belief, soldiers need roads, landing airfields, fuel depots, housing, you name it.

The Corps of Engineers can oversee the contractors they hire to complete the project. I wouldnt be surprised at all if President Trump had this in the back of his mind the whole time.

Love your idea but have no belief the buffoons at TSA and DHS could build a sand castle let alone the wall.

Corps of Enigineers have many decades of building dams.

The Seebees have many wars under their belt building infrastructure.

DJT is their CIC.

Seebees can also provide suppressive fire to hostiles engaging from the South should that occure

I disagree with you. Give the military reauthorization to build it meet the specs of national defense, then stay out of their way.

I bet the Israeli wall was built by Palestinian and other Muslim labor.

Um. The military builds fortification and roads. It’s what they do.

Things like walls are why we have the Army Corps of Engineers. As I understand it, engineers and bridge and road builders have been critical to military success since the Greeks and Carthaginians were toddlers. Roman siege engines, etc. And as the posters have said, this wall is very high-tech, and definitely a defense against a military threat.

I think it's a brilliant and logical move. I hope he does it. Just to see the liberals twitch spasmodically.

It really depends what he means. When the Air Force needs planes, they have the budget but contract with Lockheed, Boeing, Grumman, etc. They oversee the contracts, but civilians do the actual hands-on work. The Air Force is primarily a budget conduit for the airplanes.

If the military is a budget conduit for the wall, it will get built.

The Corps of Engineers does not involve soldiers driving bulldozers but is extremely competent at managing design and construction on a massive, complex scale. Think more on on-time, on-budget and on-specification. Or better.

It is not at all controversial to have the COE running a large scale government construction project. In the military’s earlier history, the best and brightest out of West Point began their careers in the COE. It remains a strong engineering college. Very strong.

Tell that to the Army Corps of Engineers.
From Wikipedia:
The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is a U.S. federal agency under the Department of Defense and a major Army command made up of some 37,000 civilian and military personnel, making it one of the world’s largest public engineering, design, and construction management agencies. Although generally associated with dams, canals and flood protection in the United States, USACE is involved in a wide range of public works throughout the world. The Corps of Engineers provides outdoor recreation opportunities to the public, and provides 24% of U.S. hydropower capacity.

I think ICE should supply the labor for the walls, supervised by the military.

“The military should not build the wall. They are soldiers not road workers.

That is a ridiculous statement. Armies have been constructing massive works since the dawn of warfare. Hadrian’s Wall was built mainly by soldiers of the three legions of Britain, but it was manned by the second-line auxiliary troops.

“Hadrian’s Wall, continuous Roman defensive barrier that guarded the northwestern frontier of the province of Britain from barbarian invaders. The wall extended from coast to coast across the width of northern Britain; it ran for 73 miles (118 km) from Wallsend (Segedunum) on the River Tyne in the east to Bowness on the Solway Firth in the west.”

"The military should not build the wall. They are soldiers not road workers."

There are two kinds of combat engineers. One kind does combat and the other, construction.

Construction combat engineers can build more different kinds of highways than any civilian construction company can build--types of building that most people wouldn't imagine. They can build a highway far faster and better for far less cost.

"The TSA and DHS should supply the labor for the wall."

LOL! I think I see your point.
