Have you ever thought that all the chaos might just be scripted to keep the narrative going? Squirrel!! Just throwing that out there. You dont get to be a billionaire in the rough and tumble NYC commercial construction industry by not doing your homework.
“Have you ever thought that all the chaos might just be scripted to keep the narrative going? “
To some degree I believe some of the chaos is orchestrated. However, it is difficult to put any kind of good spin on the president not having a seasoned and aggressive first class legal team in place and working to defend him from Mueller’s extremely capable team. At this point even if Trump finds the best constitutional lawyer in America to head his team, it is hard to see how a new legal team can be assembled and catch up on nearly a year of preparation. Mueller is going to demand to depose Trump within weeks. It is conceivable Trump will agree to the deposition and not have top drawer representation. A mistake in a Mueller deposition can hang him. Mueller and his team are masters at convicting people for process crimes.
It is pretty clear where we are going. Ryan and McConnell dissed Trump big time on the omnibus bill. They have no love for Trump and had no problem embarrassing him with the base. They’ve demonstrated they will lose seats in the midterms before letting Trump have a wall, defund Planned Parenthood, or complete the staffing of his administration. If the GOP loses the House and Senate in the Midterms, the Democrats will impeach Trump and likely convict him in the Senate to remove him from office. There are at least 10 Republican Senators today who will vote to convict Trump.
Mueller will likely indict Trump and possibly Jared and Donald Jr. for process crimes just before the election. The media and Democrats will go on an all out attack along with the leaders of business and thought leaders of academia. If the Republicans squeak by with one or two houses in the Midterms, Ryan and McConnell will do a deal with the Democrat leadership to join the Dems in a bipartisan impeachment of Trump. It will be positioned as a noble cause to save the country from another year of uncertainty and chaotic governance. If the stock market is down and unemployment is rising, the people will be receptive to calls for change. Soros and Wall Street bankers certainly have the ability to create chaos in the markets in order to turn the people against Trump. The “surprise” collapse before the 2008 elections certainly contributed to the Democrat sweep.
Impeachment is a political process, not a legal process. Ryan and McConnell will go to Trump and urge him to resign. If Trump choses to fight rather than go away quietly we will see Congress work faster than it has in our lifetime. They will run a greased wheel impeachment process with hearings and House vote in January and vote to convict in the Senate by the end of February. It will be a strong bipartisan vote in both Houses. Trump will leave office in embarrassment and the federal government will harass him and his businesses for the rest of his life. There will be no pardon by Pence and Trump may actually go to jail to set an example for anyone in the future who chooses to challenge the established order.
To add insult to injury the GOP establishment will probably put Romney, Jeb, or Graham in the VP role under the new Pence administration. Romney is the likely choice since he is a progressive (acceptable to the Dems) and can be positioned as being a distinguished public servant who puts the nation above partisanship. Of course once the dust clears the media and the Democrats will go on the attack against Pence and the new VP.
Ryan and McConnell have clearly demonstrated they not afraid of Trump. The vote on the omnibus bill demonstrates they have control of both houses, there aren’t enough conservatives in the Republican conference to block even the worst legislation when the leadership twists arms and promises favors.
Don’t forget, Boehner and McConnell worked hard with the Democrats in Congress to destroy the Tea Party, even though the Tea Party put them in power. They cannot allow Trump have a strong bond with the voter base, particularly when his agenda is counter to theirs. They fired a huge shot across Trump’s bow with the omnibus spending bill they put together with Democrats, not Republicans in secret. They smell blood in the water. Meanwhile the Trump administration is is disarray and Mueller is ready to pounce. Trump can’t play offense all by himself and chaos may win some political battles but it doesn’t support orderly governance.
The swamp is deep and Trump is one man. Without a strong team his is a single man in a foxhole under attack by swarms of drones. When the history of Trumps is written, his failure to put in place early a powerful team committed to his agenda may turn out to be his downfall.
