Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Ryan Costello will not seek reelection in 2018 as he faces a difficult midterm race in a district with a growing Democratic voter base, according to City & State Pennsylvania.
Despite having filed this week to run in the Republican primary in May, Costello told state and local GOP officials that he plans to drop out in the weeks beforehand, the anonymous sources said.

So he filed to block other Republicans, then is going to bail so the democrats can have an easy win in a close district?
Sounds like he’ll end up with a soft ‘lobbying’ or ‘consulting’ gig for this one.

Did he do this to ensure the dim win? Else why drop out?

The PA Supreme Court re-drew all of the Congressional Districts in PA. His district probably leans blue now.

That was reported four or five days ago. I guess the Hill is into reporting old news as well as fake news.

Yeah. It's going to be difficult, so better just drop out … /s
What is that old saw? Oh, yes "When the going gets tough, the tough get going!".
Apparenlty even though Costello is from Pennsylvania, he's not from Valley Forge.

Costello reportedly met with former 6th District Rep. Jim Gerlach (R) and the state GOP chairman about the decision Friday, which he said would avoid a costly defeat for the party in the coming months. Does this make sense to anybody??

Sounds like they told him he wasn’t getting any funds for election.

A corrupt Pennsylvania State Supreme Court overrode the bipartisan selection of the new districts, and thus handed the seats to the Democrat Party. It is an outrage.
Why does the Republican Party keep losing these?
