Along the south shore of Lady Bird Lake east of Interstate 35, Oracle has built a new campus that will eventually house 10,000 employees. At the end of 2015, one of the world's largest software companies announced it was expanding in Austin with the construction of a 565,000-square-foot campus located on South Lakeshore Boulevard just west of South Pleasant Valley Road, that sits on 40 acres of waterfront property. "We wanted to be in downtown Austin on the river and specifically I wanted to be in downtown Austin on the river because I thought it would be great to take my kayak out on the river at lunchtime. This is the kind of place I'd like to work," says Ellison. Being this is Texas, Ellison didn't even flinch at the real estate cost of purchasing prime property in Austin. He said he purchased as much property he could in the span of 30 minutes. "This is Texas, the prices here are like free," Ellison jokes

Yeah, it's a joke on us who aren't bazillionaires who have to take up the slack of Oracle getting no tax and utilities perks or whatever the city gave them. That's not just prime real estate but super duper prime next to the lake, golf course and directly off I-35 and right between the airport and downtown. It's a joke what those 10,000 employees with their spouse and 2 kids to equal 40,000 more people will do to the infrastructure, traffic and lack of housing will do to Austin. We're still praying Austin doesn't get the new Amazon headquarters on top of this.

I saw our latest property tax yesterday and nearly had a stroke. I'm dreading when Mr. b finds out. Property tax alone is taking 4 months of income straight off the top. We've been holding on by our finger nails but this might send Mr. b over the tipping point and I'll have to leave the home 4 generations have lived in. Yeah, Ellison, that real funny.

Why did Oracle not build in Ohio, West Virginia, Michigan or West Virginia?

Why Austin?

Because the liberal demonrats are determined to turn Texas blue. Just like Austin and Dallas are in the remaining top 5 for Amazon. If they can hit the center of Texas, the poison will spread. The University of Texas in Austin is full to the brim with foreigners. Dallas is a prime dumping city for middle eastern invaders. They certainly don’t want the wall built since TX takes up more than half of the US border.

The same reason more primo real estate was flat out given to some Katrina trash to establish a church. Funny how they keep getting away with building house after house for their parishioners on tax free church/school property. How long has it been since Katrina and there’s still no school but a whole subdivision of new houses for them.

I hear you. Between the property taxes, the traffic, the ridiculous high density pattern of growth the council of clowns has planned and the stifling regulations, we’re dyin’ here. As soon as the kids graduate HS, were going to finally put a city like, maybe, Georgetown between us and Austin. 2 times we’ve moved out to the edge of Austin and 2 times they have annexed us or surrounding neighborhoods. I am so tired of their liberal chokehold.
