The stupid Idea we need a Trillion for defense that won’t yield anything to make us safer for the next 5 years and leave the border open to terrorists, illegal criminals and drugs, it all doesn’t make sense
Its 72 years after WWII, close all the European bases and put bases on the Mexico border with all the money saved and money staying in America, build the wall with the savings.
Almost all of the European bases are closed.
Our “footprint” there now is smaller than a division where as the height of the cold war we had 277,000 troops on the ground. By 1990 it was 220,000, and now its somewhere close to 30,000 (mostly support troops).
A full up division can only effectively control a 10-15km front. So unless you want to bring back the draft to fill out all of the administrative “paper divisions” your dream of every division on the border isn’t happening because we don’t have enough to do it.
As far as savings go, the democrats will just spend it on more transgender studies or lgbtxyz outreach programs, etc.
