‘Lone DNC Hacker’ Guccifer 2.0 Slipped Up and Revealed He Was a Russian Intelligence Officer

Guccifer 2.0, the “lone hacker” who took credit for providing WikiLeaks with stolen emails from the Democratic National Committee, was in fact an officer of Russia’s military intelligence directorate (GRU), The Daily Beast has learned. It’s an attribution that resulted from a fleeting but critical slip-up in GRU tradecraft.

That forensic determination has substantial implications for the criminal probe into potential collusion between President Donald Trump and Russia. The Daily Beast has learned that the special counsel in that investigation, Robert Mueller, has taken over the probe into Guccifer and brought the FBI agents who worked to track the persona onto his team.

Guccifer was pretty clearly a CIA-type invention. And they can put whatever supposed accidental or whatever fingerprints from whatever country on this stuff now—it proves nothing.

The interesting claims in the article:

• Guccifer 2.0 forgot to turn on his VPN at least once, and was found to be posting from a GRU IP address in Moscow. If true, Guccifer is busted. Or maybe framed, if the GRU wanted to claim him (he was actually claiming to be a Moldovan with a suspicious attitude towards Mother Russia).
• The article cites a WSJ article, dated 25 May 2017, claiming a Florida GOP operative, Aaron Nevins, requested info from Guccifer 2.0 and received 2.5gb of DNC stuff, which proved useful in the Florida race.

It doesn't prove anything about DJT, other to point out that, if Trump had been colluding, it would not have been necessary to invent Guccifer 2.0 to convey him GRU intel.
