California is a part of America. But its no longer American. It is a foreign state. It is a fugitive state. The U.S. Constitution and the rule of law no longer apply in California. Call it, The Peoples Socialist Republic of California. Its a state without a country. But its certainly no longer American in any way.
Liberals in California want to secede. They are trying to put it on the ballot. They call it Calexit. I say, Glory Hallelujah." Lets help make it happen. I propose 63 million Trump voters join the team. Let's work 24/7 to turn their dream into a reality!
Millions of illegal aliens live in California; drive in California with official state-issued drivers licenses; and of course, use those licenses to vote in California. Millions. Thats precisely how Hillary won California by over 4 million votes.
California supports illegal aliens over legal, law-abiding American citizens. They support illegals getting free college tuition, while children of native-born Americans pay full fare. They support illegals over police and ICE. Many liberals in California want to abolish ICE. They want no borders and no immigration law.
The Attorney General of California has warned any business owner who cooperates with ICE will face prosecution by the state of California. You heard correctly. California will put the business owner in prison, for cooperating with federal law, to protect the criminal breaking the law.
The Mayor of Oakland famously played Paul Revere to warn illegal felons ICE is coming. ICE is coming. The Feds report over 800 felons evaded arrest because of that stunt. How many legal, law-abiding, native-born Americans will be robbed, raped, or murdered in the coming weeks because of that act of sedition?
A California judge just sided with the ACLU and barred LA County from enforcing gang restrictions that dramatically lowered crime. California has once again sided with hoodlums and gang-bangers over the law-abiding taxpayers.
In Oakland, a coffee shop prohibits employees from serving police, in order to create a safe space for their customers. Californians hate and distrust police more than illegal felons and thugs who speak no English and wear gang tattoos. Really.
All of this is sheer madness. But California has taken it to a whole new level.
Just this week the California Senate appointed the first-ever illegal alien to an official statewide post. Lizbeth Mateo, a 33-year old illegal alien-turned-attorney, will serve on the official state committee that doles out money to illegals attending college. In California, illegals now decide how taxpayer money is spent.
President Trump loves to brand (see "Crooked Hillary"). Lets brand California. Its not a Sanctuary State. Its a Fugitive State. Its a place that chooses to let felons and fugitives run free. Its a place where the rights of criminals are far more important than protecting legal, law-abiding American citizens who pay taxes. We are the second class citizens in California.
Heres the way to fix the problem. Liberal Californians want to secede. I'm joining the movement. How about you?
Conservatives should beg California to secede. We should make it easy for them. We should help pay for it. Pass the hat. Every conservative should chip in $20. Ill throw $1000 to get the ball rolling.
Just think of elections. Without California, Trump and all future Republican presidential candidates would win, without breaking a sweat. Without California, wed easily win the popular vote. And we'd win the electoral vote by a landslide.
Next think of Congress. California has 53 House seats. Democrats lead 39-14, for a net gain of 25 seats. Send California packing and the GOP gains a 25 House seat lead. We would dominate the House for decades to come.
And of course, the GOP would gain an automatic two seats in the Senate through the subtraction of California. As it stands now, those two U.S. Senate seats are deep blue Democrat forever. But if California secedes a 51-49 GOP lead instantly moves to 51-47.
If 63 million Trump voters just gave an average of $20 each to the "Calexit movement" thats over $1.2 billion dollars. Thats enough money to help California secede, with enough left over as a down payment on building a wall
with California.
Completely false. All powers not granted to the federal government are reserved by the states. Since nowhere in the US constitution is the power to prevent secession by a member state granted to the federal government, that is one of the powers reserved by the states.
The express resolutions of the two most important and biggest states at the time of ratification amply demonstrates that that was the original intent of the states when they ratified the constitution.
These were the same states which had unilaterally seceded from the British Empire 8 years earlier.
The authority to add new states to the union is provided to the fed, so the authority to remove or lend permission to leave is also vested in the fed. It doesn’t necessarily have to be spelled out in the constitution to be legitimate entity with authority.
No states seceded from Great Britain. The colonies openly and unambiguously rebelled against British rule.
Nope! Had that power been delegated to the federal government by the states when they ratified the constitution, it would have been enumerated in the constitution. It was not. It was therefore reserved by the states under the 10th amendment.
Btw, you do realize what the colonies did was secession right? They declared independence. Thats secession.
If they leave—round up all the illegals in the other 40 states and export them to California. Then build a wall to keep the Californians out. Hillary can become president for life of the People’s Republic of California.
Secession is the orderly withdrawal from an organization. The Revolutionary War (catchy name!) was ANYTHING but orderly.
Orderliness is irrelevant. Hell, the Southern States withdrawal from the union could not have been more orderly. They held secession conventions that exactly matched their ratification conventions were held in which elected delegates voted to secede or alternatively they held democratic votes like Virginia to secede.
The union is voluntary. Government derives its legitimacy from the CONSENT of the governed. This is what Representative Lincoln himself said about it:
“Any people anywhere being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable, a most sacred right - a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people, that can, may revolutionize, and make their own of so much of the territory as they inhabit. Abraham Lincoln January 12, 1848
Lincoln was referring to the natural right of rebellion. Rebellion is not secession. The slaver’s rebellion wasn’t “orderly” - their very first acts were of sedition and insurrection.
The minute California secedes China will be right there to “protect them”. You don’t think California leftists won’t invite them in? Then you will have China at the Rockies instead of on the other side of the Pacific where they belong. If that happens we will cease to be a Pacific power. We will likely lose Hawaii next, then Guam. (Remember Hawaii does have a small loud independence movement, don’t know about Guam!). All the nations of the Pacific rim will start to make “accommodations” with China include Oz & NZ!
Also do you really think the Chinese will be content to sit there at the top of the Rockies and not stir up trouble in the other western states? Huge mistake to let California go! The thing to do if they try is , move in declare martial law and reconstruct California into 3 to 4 states.
See if those liberals like Reconstruction!
I think that everything you say has very real possibilities of happening. People would love to say “good riddance” to the vexing leftists (me too) but, in their haste would throw out the baby with the bathwater.
+1. Completely agree and its inherently obvious.
Ridiculous. He was talking about secession. Secession was what the 13 colonies did from the British Empire. Secession was a principle to liberate the world in his words....until he became president and was told by his corporate fatcat buddies how much money they stood to lose if their cash cow aka the Southern States, left.
Do you know the pretext or occasion for his speech of January 12, 1848? Lincoln the politician was being a politician. He was protesting the presidents war with Mexico. His claim was that Polk was just making a bad situation worse.
His address speaks to Polk's decision-making capabilities regarding the dispute over hotly contested boundaries between the United States and Mexico. The essence of Lincoln's argument was that the actual boundary lay between the effective boundary of Mexico and the effective boundary of the US.
Texas, and eventually the US claimed territory that Mexico said belonged to them. But it was land that Mexico didn't effectively control - it was under the control of Texans.
You cherry-picked the quote because it appears to support your POV. Point of fact it does not. The second half - the yang to your ying - is; "Any portion of such people that can, may revolutionize, and make their own, of so much of the teritory(sic) as they inhabit. More than this, a majority of any portion of such people may revolutionize, putting down a minority, intermingled with, or near about them, who may oppose their movement."
Lincoln's rather wordy point was that the Texans had the divine right to assert their right of self-determination as long as they could hold that ground over the actions of their opponents. Your right to rebel doesn't preempt my right to defend.
You’re trying to play semantics here. Revolutionize, Rebel, Secede.....guess what. They amount to the same thing.
Secession was great and wonderful.....so long as nobody sought to secede from Imperial Washington. THEN it became a terrible thing. Never mind that the states were sovereign and never surrendered their sovereignty to the federal government. Never mind that they only DELEGATED (what one does with a SUBORDINATE) PART of their sovereignty. Never mind that as Madison himself said in the federalist papers the powers of the federal government were specific and limited while the powers of the states were unlimited and numerous.
These United States was born of secession. Each state was recognized specifically by name as being sovereign in the 1783 Treaty of Paris. Nowhere did the states ever agree to surrender their sovereignty or the right to leave the new experiment that was the newly created union of the states under the US Constitution just 8 years after their sovereignty was recognized in the Treaty of Paris.
How many times do I have to keep point this out!
The minute California secedes China will be right there to protect them. You dont think California leftists wont invite them in? Then you will have China at the Rockies instead of on the other side of the Pacific where they belong. If that happens we will cease to be a Pacific power. We will likely lose Hawaii next, then Guam. (Remember Hawaii does have a small loud independence movement, dont know about Guam!). The northwest Pacific states will probably go too. All the nations of the Pacific rim will start to make accommodations with China include Oz & NZ!
Also do you really think the Chinese will be content to sit there at the top of the Rockies and not stir up trouble in the other western states? Huge mistake to let California go! The thing to do if they try is, move in declare martial law and reconstruct California into 3 to 4 states.
See if those liberals like Reconstruction!
Secession and the Civil War would have gone differently if Britain and France had immediately jumped in with aid & troops. China is that equivalent now and they are very aggressive! Its so romantic to play 1861 or 1776, very different world now. Let California secession happen and you had better start practicing your Mandarin!
I don’t agree. I think your scenario is farfetched to say the least. China has an extremely limited capability to project power. They lack a blue water navy.
China will not be invading they’ll be invited in!
They don’t need to project anything.
Regardless, what kind of message will California succession and US meek acceptance say to the nations of the Pacific rim? The US will cease to be a Pacific power, Chinese Blue Water navy or not. For the US it would be a Trafalgar-like defeat without a shot being fired.
The slaver's used secession as a pretext - but it was anything but a secession - and everything that was a rebellion. Once they had accomplished phase one they even referred to themselves as rebels!
These United States was born of secession.
Nonsense!
Nowhere did the states ever agree to surrender their sovereignty or the right to leave the new experiment that was the newly created union of the states under the US Constitution just 8 years after their sovereignty was recognized in the Treaty of Paris.
Actually, yes they did. The states ratified the constitution that spelled out a system of Dual Sovereignty wherein each state is sovereign to each other but subordinate to the federal.
I'm surprised you don't know this stuff!
I just dont buy this whole scenario. China has its own problems to deal with and is not in a position to project power all the way across the Pacific.
WOW! You really have no idea what youre talking about.
The states seceded from the British Empire. Secession and declaring independence are the exact same thing.
The states did not surrender their sovereignty.....ever. They DELEGATED (important word....its what a superior does with a subordinate) certain powers only to the federal government. The constitution spells out exactly what those limited powers they were delegating were. It very specifically says they were delegating no other powers to the federal government. Madison emphasized this point over and over again in the Federalist papers.
The states never delegated to the federal government the power to prevent a state from seceding.....leaving.....declaring independence - all three of those being synonymous. Multiple states including the two sectional leaders and most important ones expressly reserved the right to leave/secede/declare independence when they ratified the constitution. Nobody claimed they did not have that right which they expressly reserved or claimed that by reserving it, their ratification was thereby defective.
Because....the union is voluntary. Government derives its legitimacy from the consent of the governed as is stated in the Declaration of Independence.
