There was a shooting in Southern MD yesterday and one of the ‘clips’ the radio played was a KID being interviewed by CNN DURING the ‘lockdown’..
Publicize one and ALL want the glory.
IMNSHO, this was probably an isolated incident as the ‘shooter’ had apparently been involved with the girl and the guy may have been collateral damage or WITH the girl.
The ‘School Securities Officer’(title?) shot him but as of yesterday wasn’t clear if the kid offed himself or the SSO ‘did it’.
In reference to the point of WANTING some security inside the doors of the schools, it was pointed out that the SSO probably prevented carnage.(Remains to be seen and will probably never been know but the kid only had ONE pistol and my ‘mind’ tells me it was a one on one)
HOWEVER, when did ‘WE’ start praising people for doing their job.
When the shooting at the ball field occurred the POLICE(LEO) on scene were touted as HEROES.. I don’t think standing up to or taking down someone who is threatening to ‘harm’ the people you are ‘charged with protecting’ comes under the HERO title...UNLESS one is implying rather than ran for cover like ALL those WITHOUT weapons, the ARMED LEO stood his ground and fired.
Military ‘solved’ that by figuring as long as in COMBAT one ‘deserves’ a Bronze Star BUT for over the top bravery etc they awarded for Valor to set them apart.
Like they say “IF ALL STUDENTS ARE ‘A’ STUDENTS, it takes away from those that REALLY deserve it—BUT makes the true ‘C’ student feel better”

All Silver Stars are for valor (or pretend valor in the case of John Kerry and his ilk) and don’t come with a V device. I’ve actually seen a pretend veteran wearing a uniform to which he affixed V devices to all the ribbons he wore — including the good conduct ribbon.
