If I had a child in this particular school, I’d yank him or her out and move to another school district, put my child in private day school, or send my child to boarding school. However fine a school it may have been before the shooting, no real learning is going to go on there for at least a couple more years.
There are no moral absolutes in the school system. To teach students this is telling them ‘anything goes, do what feels right to you’.
There’s a long list of acts these students can get away with, without any consequences ... no discipline, no reporting to the authorities ... nothing.
It makes me think of the old ‘allowing the patients to run the asylum’ and ‘putting the fox in charge of the hen house’ kind of thing, neither having a good outcome.
They need to admit this policy has failed and needs to be fixed.
