How is this a race issue?
I think this is less of a race issue and more of a protected class issue.
And I don’t mean the blue protected class.
She is white (Australia). He is black (Somalia).

I think to many commenters the race issue comes from the backstory of his employment. The more one searches the more he seemed to not really have any business being a cop, let alone some kind of ‘best cop of the year’ or whatever he was given. Seems he was a bit of a diversity poster boy for the local politicians or something. You really have to look into more of the story. It was discussed in detail at the time of the shooting.
