Is it just me or is anyone else bothered by the constant grandstanding at these press conferences at every major terrorist act or school shooting. I realize that people have a right to know but this just seems to me to be giving notoriety to people who have instant fame as their main goal in life. How about a simple press release printed and handed out to the media.
Agree.

It’s not just you...
Professional Leftist media trained public affairs zampolits have their web spun around much of government, including the military, much the same way the leftist HR mafia does.

We are at a rather troublesome point in history where we have instant communications and a media that needs to fill 24 hours a day with something; and that “something” needs to get attention from the 42M other websites and news feeds out there on the web. This leads to every event of every day being portrayed in the media as the most important event of the century.
This event is then replaced with the next hysterically reported event. Weather, bombers, Civil War statues, Las Vegas shooting. It doesn’t matter what event, every one is portrayed as the most important event ever in world history. The current event is then replaced with the next event, also reported with hysteria cranked up to 11. It can’t be healthy for the general public to suffer this sort of media onslaught on a continuous basis.
The names of the game are viewers and $$$.
All else is secondary. What a shame.
I call them news conference backslap fests!
You'll note, anytime anything news worthy happens happens, they'll get the police chief, all of his underlings, the mayor, city council member, they'll fly the governor in and what do they all do?? Backslap each other as they strain for TV face time to be used for their next election campaign.
They spend most of their time introducing each other for the cameras and then start complementing each other, as they name every government agency involved and tell all how feverishly they work, how great, brave and heroic they all are...on and on. It's one big back slap fest.
I find these so called, "News conferences" to be disgusting and very revealing.
Seems like there are press conferences on one thing or another on an almost daily basis, but total silence on whatever the hell actually happened in Las Vegas.
