It IS normal.
The problem is that liberals don't like it when your interests differ from theirs.
It's like with the phrase "pro-choice." Liberals intend it to mean "pro-abortion," but when someone says they "choose life," liberals get angry.
When someone has a personal interest in donating to a church instead of a homeless shelter (even though the church may still serve the homeless), liberals get angry.
When someone says they want to reduce their taxes so they can choose where to give their philanthropy instead of the government choosing via federal programs, liberals get angry.
When someone says they want to manager their own retirement savings instead of giving their savings to the federal government to manage, liberals get angry.
When someone says they want health care plans catered to their specific needs instead of subsidizing the care of strangers, liberals get angry.
When someone says they want to hear a public speaker who differs from liberal talking points, liberals get angry.
When someone says they will vote for a person who represents their personal choice interests that differ from liberal choices, liberals get angry.
