Republican Rep. Charlie Dent (Pa.) said Saturday that the firing of Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe on Friday looked to be a "vindictive" move by the president.
In an interview with CNN, Dent said that while he would wait for the inspector general's report to judge McCabe, his firing looked like retribution from the White House.
"This firing looks a bit forced, a bit rushed. Candidly, it looks like retribution and a bit vindictive," Dent said. "And I think it's unfortunate. The man said he's resigning, you know, and on a Friday night before his 50th birthday he's fired to take away his pension? I don't like the optics of this, I really don't."
Dent added that he believed Attorney General Jeff Sessions was "browbeaten" into firing McCabe Friday night after weeks of public humiliation from President Trump.
"It looks like the attorney general may have been browbeaten into this, he's been publicly humiliated and shamed by the president on multiple occasions, and I just don't think this bodes well."

If you don’t know anything, keep your mouth shut and don’t make yourself look stupid!
Being an old New Yorker myself I realize that sometimes we seem to be rather short on manners. At the same time all Americans, when confronted by a poisonous snake need to abandon good manners and become the mongoose.
One thing that I am disappointed with President Trump has been many of his cabinet selections. I know he was trying to get along being the new kid on the block and all, but he should have surrounded himself with people who he knew and could trust. He didn’t do that and we lost one whole year to the swamp!
The ATTORNEY GENERAL declared MCCABE was dirty. What is it with these people?
Can you get me straight?
Barack Hussein Obama
Valerie Jarrett (Iranian born Muslim, lead White House)
Hillary Rodham Clinton (as Sec State, and as civilian, negotiated with and accepted foreign bribe money through her private Clinton Foundation and through Clinton Library foreign donors)
James Clapper (National Intelligence lead)
James Comey, (FBI,
Loretta Lynch (DOJ, subverted FISA process for political surveillance)
John Brennan, CIA (Muslim convert, voted for communist for president)
John Kerry, Sec State (Negotiated with Nicuaraguan communists, and North Vietnamese communists as civilian against the president)
Andrew McCabe, (FBI
George Soros, Hungarian-Nazi ties, wanted in several countries for subversion, damaged several foreign governments through currency manipulation
Huma Abedin, “personal” advisor to Hillary, printed and exchanged national security emails and data on private servers and private printers/computers.
Should not their UN ambassador be added to the list?
IRS?
Lois Lerner?
My eyes have been opened this year like never before and what I see is ugly. I remember how excited I was in when Republicans finally took over the House. Up to that point, never, at least in my life time had Republicans ever done that.
For some reason, instead of being unified and showing what they could do all they could think of was infighting and bickering and still I made excuses for them.
Slowly it dawned on me that neither party works for America and the American people. They work for themselves and their donors and should we benefit from any of that it is strictly by accident.
Our government is no longer exceptional as it has forgotten the prime directive of “for the people, by the people.”
Dent is not our side. These are moles,...with sponsors.
These that are heard howling are your *NeverTrumpers. The UniParty.
The UniParty are Leftist-globalists, who win office as Republicans, on a Republican ticket.
Well, I did place a qualifier in there that this was not an all inclusive list. Frankly, FR may not have enough bandwidth to cover them all.
We don’t do it. The GOPe does it.
Yup. These GOP assholes never bother to get the facts before making stupid comments. OPR made the final decision to fire McCabe. Sessions just pulled the trigger.
So this back stabbing prick goes to CNN of course.
YAWN , any reason to attack Trump ,OK we get it
We are a nation conceived by geniuses and now run by idiots. If that wasn’t bad enough our elected idiots are corrupt and bankrupt of honor, decency, and integrity.
Think of our Founding Fathers and the sacrifices they were willing to make to create this beautiful experiment, then compare them to Comey, Mueller, McCabe, Bush, Obama and Clinton.
I sincerely hope that when I die I never meet any of our Founders as I would not be able to look them in the eye when they ask, “What the heck happened?”
Only if one doesn’t know, or care about, the facts.
I will never forget nor forgive the “never Trumpers.” What is it about America great again do they fear?
I would love to leave a great and prosperous country to our children and all Trump’s opposition is impeding that progress.
its always him....every time....ultimate rhino.
Charlie Dent, instead of being concerned about the damage McCabe and his buddies have done to the credibility of the FBI, worries about a habitual leaker and apparent liar who is supposed to be a public servant not getting a pension much larger and with more benefits than the average American gets.
I sincerely hope that the IG report is TNT, anything short of that will make McCabe’s firing look like spite.
“A bit” vindictive? Is it “a bit” violative of the Constitution to conduct widespread illegal surveillance of private persons in order to sabotage the US electoral process? Or, just a teeny weenie bit violative? Is it “a bit” in contempt of ANY court but especially the FISA court to submit affidavits containing known false material? You know, like perjury? Is it “a bit” treasonous to attempt to take down a duly elected president using the full apparatus of the nation’s security apparatus? Or only just a tiny bit treasonous?
Instinctive fear response over unprofessional and illegal conduct. The McCabe issue hits way too close. Most of D.C. has dug in with fox holes. In a swamp..........The more they dig in the more they sink and drown.
some on “Our side” do these disgusting things, make these sickening statements.... because...... they aren’t really on our side, after all.
This politician has “outed” himself as not being on our side.
