Annexing territory by force is not supposed to be allowed under the UN International order - but they cannot effectively enforce much of anything, unless the US commits to doing it.

Perhaps things will change under SecState Pompeo, but it may be too late for the people of Afrin. Things look grim there.

Europe depends on Turkey for a lot of food supply. They are hard pressed to strongly sanction them.

Bull. Turkey got used to get away with everything since after WWII using blackmail of promising to sell out to Stalin at the time making US and NATO to overlook their transgressions all the time.

Times has changed but Turkey don’t and how can they get away with it is a mystery but I thing old habit to tolerate anything from them dies hard.
