Legislative Director Marc Short took the White House briefing podium on Friday to call out historic obstruction by Democrats for requiring 30 hours of debate over Trump administration nominees at a rate far beyond that which prior administrations faced.
Short repeatedly pointed to Democrat Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for
the historic obstruction that we have faced by Sen. [Chuck] Schumer and Senate Democrats in confirming our nominees to enable us to fill out our White House.
The Senate obviously has the constitutional responsibility for advice and consent, said Short who then proceeded to describe what that looks like in real life.
After the President selects a nominee, that person goes through an FBI background check, they work with the office of government ethics to deconflict financial issues, and after this extensive process the nominee is submitted to the U.S. Senate.

Schumer is a real Ahole, but McConnell should have put a stop to this many months ago.
The “Democratic” Party does NOT like democracy.
McConnell hates being “leader”.
Need to change the rule to 3 hours. Mini-Nuke.
Once the Republicans are in control of the Senate this delay can be done away with.
Until then Chuck Schumer will keep an iron fist on things.
President Trump needs to recess appoint the whole lot fo them come Easter.

According to this list 45 House Republican Seats do not have a candidate running! If this list is correct, that means those Democrats running get that seat! Why aren’t FR people signing up to run for those seats? Or is timeline closed yet?
I just saw this today, so wondering what will happen to those House seats in 2018?
Let’s face it, the GOP hates being in majority, can’t handle leadership and hate President Trump just the same. They could lose majority and see impeachment and they would not even care. Political parties are poison.
surely there are skeletons in his closet, too
Dude, there were some districts that are just not worth throwing your money away in ...
It’s hard to be the Democrats ****h when you’re in the majority.
“Dude”? Seriously. In many cases it would take little money, with all that is crashing in Democrat Party. And with the ‘winning’ Trump is doing....maybe filing out a paper and getting a name on ballot with some news interview might be enough! And, yes, some are not worth it...unless balance in House goes left due to lack of Republican Candidates. Not sure what 45 would do for the balance with Dems challenging so many other Republican seats.
Dude, go look at the districts! The links are there.
Keep ‘em in session 24 hours a day, six days a week, and see what happens?
“According to this list 45 House Republican Seats”
I now see your problem! Theses are not house Republican seats. They are house democratic seats.
Honestly except for judges, if a position is empty for 8 weeks, is it needed? I say get rid of the positions that can do done with those left in the department.
Some of those seats are unwinnable so no point in filling except that you never know what may happen between now and election day. By not putting in a candidate you forfeit taking advantage of death, illness or political gaffes.
Vermont has one rep. Peter Welch. He’s has a $2 million war chest (which means he is waiting for a senator to retire). He does have one opponent, Cris Ericson (United States Marijuana Party) who got 2,900 votes in 2014 to Peter’s 123,000. There was a Republican in that race who took 32% to Peter’s 64%.
