I wouldn’t have made it through grade school if that was the policy in my day. I had guns and ammo in my bedroom.

We had gun racks in our trucks IN the school parking lot.

The principal would come out and admire new rifles or shotguns with us.

I know. We brought our guns to school and they were in our cars. We had an after school target shooting club 2x week fall and spring with the Vice Principal. (late 70’s - early 80’s, rural Iowa)
